Tottenham: Talks expected this week for major signing

Tottenham officials are expected to hold further talks this week in what looks increasingly likely to be a successful attempt to finally bring Victor Wanyama to the club.

That is according to The Daily Mail who reports:

Tottenham and Southampton will hold further talks this week

There has been protracted talk of a move for Wanyama but, until now, his club has stood firm in the face of intense interest in the player.

But it seems that he will now make the move to London this summer with the fee reported at a relatively modest £11m.

Tottenham clearly need to add depth to their squad as they will be competing in The Champions League for the first time since Gareth Bale left the club.

But with the team playing so well last term you would have to ask whether Wanyama can be guaranteed a starting pace in this Tottenham side. He will have a big job on his hands to displace Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier so he may have to wait his turn for a chance to impress.

But Tottenham’s squad did look thin at times last season in a campaign where they played more games than most. And the arguably fatigued performances put in by Harry Kane so far at EURO 2016 may well indicate that attacking reinforcements should also be expected in what should be an exciting summer for Tottenham fans.

Wanyama is a powerful midfielder with good feet and will be a success at Tottenham. He played 92 games and scored 4 goals for Southampton. He has scored the same number in 42 appearances for Kenya.
