New Link: Tottenham keen on one of the success stories of the season

Now this one makes a lot of sense.

Ever since the season finished and Newcastle were relegated from The Premier League, we wondered how long it would be before Georginio Wijnaldum would be seriously linked to a move.

Because unlike many of his team mates, the 25-year-old Dutchman DID shower himself in glory last term.

With 11 goals and 5 assists in 40 games for a side which seriously struggled in attack, Wijnaldum would have to be regarded as one of the success stories of The Premier League season.

The Telegraph writes:

As ever, Pochettino’s team of scouts and analysts have drawn up an extensive list of potential targets in that position – one of whom is believed to be Newcastle United’s Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman can play through the middle to great effect. But we see him playing wide for Tottenham. He is a wide man with genuine end-product rather than one with speed but who plays too much with the head down.

The creator has also been a big hit for Holland at national level where he has played 30 times and scored 6 goals since his debut in 2011.

Far be it for us to tell the brilliant Mauricio Pochettino what to do in the market. But Wijnaldum seems to us to have all the attributes to become a memorable Tottenham player. He’s still young and hasn’t yet reached his peak. And he plays with real flair and invention as well as being an effective performer in the statistics department.

Here are some of his best moments for Newcastle.

Tottenham fans: an obvious addition?
