Spurs could move to sign £31million playmaker

Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United have recently been linked with Mexican international Hirving Lozano (Sport) but now, even Tottenham Hotspur could move to sign him.

According to Mirror Sport, Spurs are targeting the PSV Eindhoven star, who has been in sensational form this season. The 23-year-old winger joined the Dutch side last season on a six-year-deal and after top performances at the World Cup, he has become a wanted man.

Stats:

Last season, in 29 appearances in the Eredivisie, Lozano directly contributed in no fewer than 28 goals (17 goals and 11 assists). He played four games at the World Cup, scored one goal (Germany) and provided an assist (South Korea).

Overall, he has played 33 times for the senior national side and scored 8 goals. This season, in all competitions, he has already netted 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 12 games.

Scenario at Spurs:

Barcelona absolutely humiliated Spurs at Wembley in the Champions League and the north Londoners clearly lack quality and depth to compete against the very best sides in the continent.

Alli has been injury prone this season and there is no adequate replacement to cover for him in his absence. Lozano could come in and improve the situation.

Contract and clause:

The speedy playmaker’s current contract with the PSV will expire in 2023 and as per ESPN, the release clause in the deal is worth $40million (£31million).
