Big Boost: Top Premier League Talent Keen on Liverpool move – report

Jurgen Klopp is clearly a manager with an attacking philosophy and that has been borne out once more at Liverpool.

But TFF was beginning to wonder whether Klopp’s major foible was that he too often overlooked the defence in his transfer planning.

Because he has had more than one chance to solidify the back line and hasn’t taken it during the last couple of transfer windows.

But reports continue to surface that Liverpool may be interested in the brilliant Premier League centre back and Dutch international Virgil van Dijk.

He would not only bring solidity to the defence but also much-needed leadership and be an incredible signing for the Anfield giants.

British media outlet, The Mirror, has reported:

Liverpool receive Virgil van Dijk boost with £50m-rated defender attracted by chance to play for Jurgen Klopp

Van Dijk only moved to Southampton from Celtic a couple of seasons ago and at that time was debatable whether he would be able to make the leap up to Premier League class.

But he has taken to England like a duck to water and if anything has been even better player than the guy that he replaced at Southampton – Toby Alderweireld.

With 68 games and seven goals under his belt at Southampton over the last couple of seasons he’s not only been an ever present when fit but also provides a genuine goal threat up top.

And at just 25 years of age the Dutch international still has possibly his best years in the game ahead of him.

The 6’4″ defender has really come into his own over the last few years and only made his debut for Holland in 2015. Since then he has played 12 times for his nation without scoring.

With so much interest in the player Liverpool will be very keen to get a deal done quickly and he’s definitely not going to come cheap. But it would be a real coup if they can get this one over the line.

Liverpool fans – would this be too much of the transfer kitty to spend on one player?
