I will never play for another Premier League club says Manchester United star

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has pledged his future to Manchester United and said that he will never play for another Premier League club.

That the 30-year-old England international has been linked with several moves away from the Manchester giants over the lost few years – most notably to Manchester City and a Chelsea side which was then managed by Jose Mourinho, who remains a huge admirer.

There has been regular talk of him one day returning to the club of his boyhood dreams, Everton, despite an acrimonious departure from Goodison Park in 2004.

Rooney said:

“I am happy to say now that, whatever may happen in the future, I will never play for another Premier League club,”

And The Guardian quotes Mourinho as saying of Rooney.

“Wayne is, and has been, England’s best player for over a decade”

In a highly distinguished career Rooney has played 111 times for England and scored 52 goals. Add 520 games and 245 goals for Manchester United and 17 in 77 at Everton and we are surely talking about a true Premier League titan.

We will probably never again see the explosive Wayne Rooney who used to demolish defences for Manchester United but he seems to be evolving into a top quality midfielder in the Paul Scholes mould.

With England having so many good forwards to choose from for EURO 2016 we think that Roy Hodgson would be well advised to play him in the engine room where he can control the tempo of games and ping balls around the field with great precision – a talent that no one else seems to possess in the current England squad.

But it will be very interesting to see where he plays for Manchester United next season.
