A few weeks ago many media outlets were suggesting that John Stones would be a major target for Manchester United this summer. So what does Jose do? He pulls a fast one and signs Eric Bailly in a move that virtually noone saw coming.

Then the papers cry ‘Pogba for playmaker!’ A few days later super agent Mino Raiola tells the world that Manchester United want to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan:

“He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation,”

And now it appears that Jose may have pulled another rabbit out of the hat as the little known 19-year-old Bordeaux playmaker Adam Ounas has started following various Manchester United stars on social media, with the press strongly linking him with a move.

What does it tell us? Well, for one thing, Jose looks much better at doing things on the quiet than previous Manchester United managers. Louis van Gaal often bemoaned the suddenly inflated price tags of players courted by Manchester United.

But Jose is just getting on with his business in a quieter and more ruthless manner than we have seen at Old Trafford for some time. TFF always felt that this was a marriage made in heaven and we have no reason to think otherwise at this juncture.

So what of Adam Ounas?

The Mirror states today:

Manchester United target Adam Ounas follows club and players on Twitter fuelling transfer talk

The youngster has been lighting up Ligue 1 this season and has been contacted by United chiefs with a view to making the move this summer

This looks a little like the Anthony Martial deal. Ounas has only played 30 times for Bordeaux but scored an impressive 6 goals. Let’s not pretend for a second that he is going to be ready-made class like Martial. For starters he hasn’t developed physically like the instant Manchester United hero.

And we can’t see him getting straight into the first-team due to general competition for places. But like the reported move for Breel Embolo, this smacks again of a manager who is trying to build a genuine long-term Manchester United vintage that isn’t going to have success for a year or two, but make a sustained challenge at home and in Europe as Barcelona have done for nearly a decade.

Ounas does look like a natural with the ball. He’s quick and makes the game look too easy already.

Let’s have a look at some of his better moments.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4vu974anOo
