Chelsea look likely to hold on to the fiery Diego Costa for January at least.

But the latest spat between club and player may be seen, in retrospect, as the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Costa has been brilliant for Chelsea on the field of play. But his temperament has always caused problems and surely The Blues will offload the Spaniard in the summer.

So who will replace the top scorer in the club?

TFF looks at some A-list candidates.

Antoine Griezmann

There have been strong rumours linking the player with a move to Manchester United this summer but Chelsea could yet wade into the deal with their big bucks.

The French international has been one of the best players in the world over the last 18 months and came third in the Ballon D’Or this season.

A truly ruthless finisher.

Edinson Cavani

His name gets bandied about every time a big club needs a striker. But for obvious reasons. For his movement alone Cavani would be a top player in England. He needs lots of chances to score. But score he does – on a very regular basis through his career.

Michy Batshuayi

Hasn’t had too much game time this season but TFF believes that there is a lot more to come from the youngster. We wouldn’t be surprised if Antonio Conte promotes from within next season.

Alexis Sanchez

There has been a suggestion in the media today that Chelsea may make a move for a player who hasn’t yet been tied down to a new contract at Arsenal.

One of the leading lights in the Premier League, he would improve almost any XI in the world.

Romelu Lukaku

Has been constantly linked to a return to Stamford Bridge since he left Chelsea permanently in 2015. Would clearly score goals but we wonder if he has the finesse for the very top level.
