Dreadful News for Manchester United?

Zlatan chills in California

This one is a potential bombshell for Manchester United.

Because although a main focus this summer will be to increase the firepower at Manchester United, the fact remains that Zlatan has been by far and away the biggest contributor so far this season with 28 of the beauties.

But latest report in the British media suggest that he may have played his last game for the club.

Zlatan badly injured his knee in the game against Anderlecht and scans revealed substantial ligament damage.

Now British media outlet, The Daily Mirror, reports:

Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic knows he’s kicked his last ball for them after major knee injury

The report states that due to the severity of the injury Zlatan may never feature at the very top level again and will instead move to America and MLS for the next campaign.

Manchester United fans would be extremely disappointed if this were the case. Not only would they love to see him at United for another season, but they wouldn’t even get a chance to properly say goodbye to a player who has had an almost inconceivable impact at the club since his arrival last summer.

Zlatan has galvanized a whole Manchester United team and got them moving forward again. 28 goals in incredible for a 35-year-old and the fact that the Europa League final is to be held in Zlatan’s home country of Sweden makes this an even more sickening blow.

One small crumb of comfort is that Zlatan is not a player who is likely to feel sorry for himself. He will be desperate to confound the critics and doubters as he has for most of his career and he may well still tread the boards of the Theatre of Dreams again in future.
