Arsenal to make huge offer – report

Maracaná, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

There is more than a whiff of crisis in the air at Arsenal right now as Arsene Wenger comes to terms with the latest Champions League battering.

As such their bartering power may not be at its strongest but they are reportedly attempting to do a huge deal to keep Mesut Ozil at the club.

British media outlet, The Daily Mirror, reports that Arsenal will smash their wage structure in an attempt to keep the German playmaker beyond the end of his current contract which expires at the end of next season.

Arsenal make Mesut Ozil MASSIVE offer to stay

£280,000-a-week proposal is new territory for the Gunners but the star knows he can earn even more elsewhere

TFF has never been the biggest fan of Ozil – we think that he is a deceptive player. Yes, he has talent and has won the World Cup with Germany. But, at club level, he rarely seems to grab a big game by the scruff of the neck. In this sense he is the embodiment of this Arsenal team.

And when your biggest player folds on the biggest stage then you need to look for another talisman.

With a year to go on his Arsenal contract we would sell as soon as possible, while the price is high, and concentrate on tieing down Alexis Sanchez and signing another player of his ilk – a speedster who makes an impact in the biggest games.

Arsenal fans: is Ozil really worth £280k per week at 28 or is he just a fair-weather player who can only do the business against the smaller teams?
