Possible Arsenal transfers this winter

Unai Emery Arsenal

Arsenal are 5th in table at the moment and after defeating Burnley 3-1 at the weekend, they are level on points with Chelsea, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

As far as the transfers are concerned, the north Londoners need to strengthen multiple departments in the upcoming winter transfer window in order to improve the quality and depth of the squad.

Welsh international, Aaron Ramsey, will be out of contract next summer and therefore, it will not come as any surprise if Emery looks to offload him in January to get at least some cash from his sale. The former Cardiff City player has been one of Arsenal’s top midfielders over the years and if he leaves, then the club must sign a top replacement.

According to rumors going on in the media (Mirror Sport), the Gunners are interested in signing French international Tanguy Ndombele, who is a versatile midfielder and has what it takes to replace Ramsey at the Emirates.

The main concern is his price tag. As per MEN, the Les Bleus midfielder is rated at around 70 million pounds

For the defensive midfield, Arsenal opted to splash the cash and sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window.

The Uruguayan international has been brilliant so far. On the other hand, Emery also has players like Xhaka and Elneny, who could effectively play in the holding midfield role. So, another DM is not needed but as per German source SportBild, Arsenal are linked with Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder, Julain Weigl.

Emery signed Sokratis to improve their backline in the summer transfer window but things have not been solid at the back this season The north Londoners have already conceded 24 goals in 18 PL fixtures and they must sign a top defender this winter. Veteran Laurent Koscielny has recently returned from his long term injury but he is past his best now and Emery needs a new leader for his defense.

According to reports going on in the media, Arsenal have been linked with Ivorian international and Man United star Eric Bailly for quite some time and last month, it was reported by The Telegraph that Jose Mourinho is looking to sell the center half. Now that the Portuguese boss is himself gone, the situation might change under interim boss and legendary striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Nevertheless, United have struggled badly and the former Villrareal center back has mostly been a bench warmer this season. Therefore, a move to the Emirates could provide him with a much needed fresh start.
