Respected Source: Arsenal and Tottenham hold discussions to sign prolific midfielder

Premier League giants Arsenal and Tottenham have held informal discussions with French club Nice over the potential of signing their brilliant young midfielder Jean Michelle Seri.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season and has been integral to Nice’s surprise challenge for the French league title.

The Ivory Coast international who has made 12 appearances for his country since his debut in 2015, scoring one goal, has scored six goals and created nine assists for his team this season.

And now respected British media outlet, The Guardian, suggests that both of the North London clubs are interested in his signature. But they will face stiff competition from PSG and Barcelona.

They report:

Arsenal and Tottenham to vie with PSG for Nice’s Jean Michaël Seri
• Premier League clubs have held discussions over £20m Ivory Coast midfielder

The diminutive 5ft 5in midfielder only joined Nice in 2015 but has gone on to become a huge part in their success with 67 appearances and 9 goals in his time at club.

The player will have two years left on his contract at the end of the season and the report states that Arsenal and Tottenham have both sent scouts to see Seri in action in recent times. He was again instrumental in Nice’s shock 3-1 defeat of Paris St. Germain at the weekend and that has led to rumours that the Paris giants Will attempt to sign him in the summer.

It looks like a big tug of war could now ensue amongst the elite clubs for the signature of a player who seems to tick most of the boxes for a top modern midfielder. He’s got great feet, never stops running and can spot a pass and score a goal. At 25 he still has room for improvement and years left at the top level.
