Chelsea’s next Kante?

It has been reported this week that Chelsea are confident of beating their rivals to the signature of the brilliant Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The 22-year-old has been instrumental in Monaco’s surprise surge to the Champions League semi-finals and the club may well struggle to hold on to him after his consistently excellent performances have ostensibly drawn the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

British media outlet, The Daily Mail, reported this week:

Chelsea confident of pipping rivals Manchester United, City and Juventus to Tiemoue Bakayoko signing

The 6ft France international has been at the top of his game all season and forced his way through a heavily congested national selection to make his international debut for France in 2017.

He moved to Monaco from Rennes in 2014 and has been an increasingly prominent member of the blossoming Monaco side with 90 appearances and five goals to his name.

And he has many of the same qualities as Chelsea’s game-changing signing from last season. Like N’Golo Kante, Bakayoko covers every blade of grass over the ninety minutes. He’s an athlete of effortless prowess and he has the technique to match his resilience.

TFF thinks that he may score goals at a quicker rate in future as he has excellent technique. He could well be pushed up the park and be the more advanced midfielder in a partnership with Kante with devastating effect.

Some may think that the pari would be too similar to play together. But TFF sees Bakayoko as an even better player than Chelsea man Nemanja Matic and The Blues would be even harder to break down with the added mobility and speed of the Frenchman.

Chelsea fans: would he compliment the talents of Kante or would you rather continue to use Matic alongside the midfield dynamo?
