Liverpool have been linked with Dortmund playmaker Christian Pulisic lately and they are in a battle with Chelsea (Mirror Sport) to sign the American international.
As per Anfield legend John Aldridge (Liverpool Echo), the 20-year-old attacker would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool. He wrote:
“Pulisic has got pace and he would certainly fit our style. With the way he picks the ball up and goes past players, he’s a Coutinho-type.”
TFF’s view:
Liverpool sold Coutinho for £142million (The Guardian) in the last winter transfer window and they have not replaced him as yet. The Reds have done pretty well without the Brazilian international but at times, they have badly missed a magician like him.
The Merseysiders do have speedy wingers like Mane and Salah but they do need a playmaker who can hold the ball under pressure in the opposition half, dribble well and provide the final ball to rip apart even the tightest of the defenses. Coutinho used to do all that and also managed to score sublime long range goals.
Moreover, Klopp also needs to improve the depth of his offense to challenge Manchester City for the title. Pep Guarduiola has got ample quality and depth in every department of his team.

Pulisic is a versatile talent, who is naturally a right winger but can effectively play on the left flank, as a central attacking midfielder and also as a secondary striker. This season, he has so far started 8 games in all competitions for Dortmund and directly contributed in 7 goals (3 goals and 4 assists).
The youngster has got pace and dribbling ability. For now, he is not as good as Coutinho but he surely has the talent to be one of the best playmakers in the world.
We completely agree with Aldridge. The £70m-rated (Mirror Sport) star would certainly be a top signing for the Reds, who would largely amplify the quality and depth of the team.
