Once the future of Arsene Wenger has been sorted out Arsenal’s next port of call must surely be futures of their two A-listers.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have been the subject of so much speculation over the last couple of years as their contracts have run down to a perilously short-term condition. With just a year left on each contract Arsenal must move now if they want to hold on to their big-hitters.
And latest reports suggest that they are prepared to break the bank to keep hold of the duo.
British media outlet, The Daily Mirror, reports:
Arsenal prepare last push to keep Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil – worth a combined £30million-per-year
Sanchez has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League again despite the fact that he hasn’t looked completely happy with Arsenal’s lacklustre season. He would surely be of interest to some of the biggest teams in Europe should he decide that he doesn’t want to stay at Arsenal beyond the end of this season. And he still hit a very impressive 31 goals in 50 appearances for Arsenal this season.
As far as Ozil is concerned he’s never been one of TFF’s favourite players and seems like the sort of luxury that the team doesn’t really need.
He does offer the odd moment of pure genius and has scored 12 goals in 41 games this season. We believe that a player with a little bit more physical prowess would be a better number 10 for the Gunners going forward.
But it’s probably harder to sign a player of that sort of quality than it is to keep one so Arsenal should really be pulling out all the stops to hold onto him.
Arsenal fans – do you feel confident you can keep the duo?
