Real Madrid: £60m move mooted

It’s one of the longest running sagas in football transfer history and, depending where your allegiances lie, the story has reared its ugly head or lightened your day again.

There is no doubt substance to the idea that Real Madrid are or have been interested in the services of Manchester United keeper David de Gea.

But a deal stalled at the last in the summer of 2016 and De Gea signed a new long-term contract. Hence the price tag which is now being mooted for his services.

British media outlet, The Sun, reports:

Real Madrid will bid world record £60MILLION for Manchester United No 1 David De Gea – but will keep Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois as fail-safe option

Despite strong competition from the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer, TFF regards De Gea as comfortably the best keeper in world football.

At 26 he’s at the top of his game and what a player he is. He often looks as if he has adhesive lacquered on his gloves as he seems to hold on to virtually every ball that comes his way. He’s certainly not a flapper and prefers not to parry the ball if at all possible.

And his reflexes often appear superhuman. De Gea has won Manchester United so many points down the years and there is no doubt that he would do the same for Real Madrid. He could feasibly be the undisputed No.1 Los Blancos keeper for eight to ten years if he moved there this summer.

Real Madrid fans: is he worth all that money or would you rather bring in a top striker with the transfer kitty?
