Chelsea confident of landing highly sought after wide man

Chelsea are said to be confident of their chances of concluding a deal for a highly rated defender, as Antonio Conte looks to further strengthen an already superb squad in the summer.

British media outlet, The Daily Mirror, reports:

Chelsea confident of beating off competition from Premier League rivals to sign Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac

The 23-year-old German left back looks about as solid as they come. At 6ft in height he is big enough to cope with the physical rigours of the Premier League but also has the sort of ground speed which will suit the wing back positions in the Chelsea formation if necessary.

But he’s an intelligent and adaptable player and TFF wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was also deployed as one of the three in Chelsea’s 3-4-3 formation.

Although Kolasinic was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, he actually chose to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at international level and has become a mainstay the side with 17 caps since his debut in 2014 at The World Cup in Brazil in which he won the unfortunate accolade of scoring the fastest own goal in the competition’s history in the group game against Argentina.

He’s now in his fifth season in the senior side at Schalke having made his way up through the youth ranks at the club.

And this season he has chipped in with three goals in his 30 appearances for the German side.

TFF fails to see how Chelsea can really go wrong with this signing but with Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton all reportedly having shown an interest in the player, the Blues will need to be decisive if they want to get this deal over the line. The report states that Everton have already offered the player wages of £100,000 per week in what could become a massive auction.

Chelsea fans: who would he replace?
