Chelsea considering late bid for 41 cap flyer

Chelsea will perhaps spend more than any other Premier League club in the last ten days of the window.

Antonio Conte hasn’t yet got all the reinforcements he wants and is reportedly still keen on several players, including a flying wide man who plays for Wolfsburg.

The Mirror states:

Chelsea eye £22million move for Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez as Antonio Conte looks to fill left-back void

The 23-year-old has been linked with several Premier League clubs and it’s easy to see why.

He’s already played 41 times for Switzerland and is easily as good going forward as he is at defending.

But, crucially, despite the buccaneering nature of the player he does do the bread and butter of defending well.

Rodriguez has been at Wolfsburg since 2012 and has played whenever fit each season. He’s been an increasingly prominent member of the German side as an attacking weapon down that left flank as much as anything. He puts in a super cross and never stops running.

So the mooted £22m for him sounds fair and could turn out to be a bargain.

One assumes that his arrival would see Cesar Azpilicueta finally move back to his more natural postion at right-back and perhaps push the tiring Branislav Ivanovic out of the starting eleven.

Let’s see some of the best moments of Ricardo Rodriguez for club and country. Chelsea fans: a deal worth pursuing?
