Chelsea linked to one of the best players on the planet

Every team makes a hash of it in the transfer market from time to time. Chelsea sold Kevin de Bruyne a couple of years back to their eternal regret.

And, despite their serial success over the last decade, Barcelona’s sale of Alexis Sanchez has to rank up there with their worst decisions.

Some might argue that Sanchez wouldn’t even get into the side ahead of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. But he would be one hell of a squad player at very least.

Anyway, Chelsea are said to be keen to sign the brilliant Arsenal man, in the latest news cycle.

British media outlet, Sky Sports passes this one on and it’s tasty:

If Sanchez moved to Chelsea it would cause an Ashely Cole sized stir. But the simple fact is that Chelsea are more likely to pay the £250k per week that the top stars in Europe can command these days.

Arsenal’s weave structure is admirable but the world of football is just too greedy for the Gunners to consistently hold on to their top talent with a top wage of under £200k weekly.

If Sanchez did replace Diego Costa at Chelsea we could expect a slight change of style in the side. Instead of a more conventional target man, Sanchez is a mobile and fluid player who never stops moving and causes havoc with his pace.

But we have seen recently with the use of Willian, Hazard and Pedro in the front lien that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is prepared to use the false number 9 system – and he does so to great effect.

Chelsea fans: is this move feasible?
