Manchester City fans have had rich pickings in the way of excitement over the last six months with the arrival of Pep Guardiola and a raft of new signings.
But the best is perhaps yet to come as one of the most exciting purchases of the summer is yet to don the shirt in competitive football.
Gabriel Jesus was signed in the summer but won’t join up with Manchester City until January where he will hope to have a big say in the destination of the title. And he told FourFourTwo magazine:
“There was [a lot of interest in my signature], but I don’t want to name any club,” he says. “The decision to join City was taken by me, with my family and my agent – and it wasn’t the best financial offer. We considered many things, but I really appreciate the whole City project and I’m so happy with the decision. City are a huge club in a country that loves football and has one of the best leagues.
“I can’t deny that working with Guardiola helped with my decision. He’s an excellent manager – one of the best in the world – and I can’t describe how proud I am when he says good things about me. I’m proud that he likes my way of playing, but that’s not enough for me. I need to show that he was right about me.”
This is a player who ticks all the boxes. He’s got blistering pace but great ball control to go with it. He also looks very clever and can read the game well. Like Brazilian team mate Neymar, he tends to make the game look easy.
Manchester City look as if they have signed a real gem here. The brilliant 19-year-old has hit the ground running for his country with four goals in six outings for Brazil since his debut earlier this year.
And at club level he has been equally impressive with 28 goals in 83 games over two seasons since his breakthrough at Palmeiras.
Let’s see some of the best moments of this frightening youngster’s short career in the game so far.
Manchester City fans: will he get into the team straight away and, if so, who misses out?
