Liverpool: Defender to move?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is already a legend at the club and far be it for TFF to question any of his judgments having seen the German manager take Liverpool back to the top of the pile over the past year.

But we still have reservations about the wisdom in selling their unsettled defender Mamadou Sakho.

Perhaps it’s more about his temperament than his level of skill that he doesn’t get a run out. But we think that he’s a better defender than some of the other stoppers in the Liverpool squad right now.

He would certainly be on our bench at least from that current squad but reports continue to suggest he will be making a move before too long.

British media outlet, The Mirror, reported:

The 26-year-old France international has p;played 28 times for his country and scored two goals. He has been at Liverpool since 2013. He’s played 80 times for the club including 34 games last season with two goals scored.

But the summer spat with the manager has left him on the sidelines and a move does look inevitable right now.

TFF likes the look of Joel Matip but, apart from that, we think the Liverpool defence could do with a lot of improvement. Not just in the goalmouth but also in the center of defence where we have never been completely convinced by Dejan Lovren or any of the other current solutions.

But you do feel that it’s just a matter of time before Sakho leaves the club and we think that could be a real shame.
