Liverpool managed a clean sheet in their impressive win at Middlesbrough but they have been few and far between this season.
Many to most observers would agree that they need a stronger defence if they are to sustain their title challenge all the way through until May.
But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is an uber attack-minded coach and even his defensive reinforcements will likely have the ability to maraud forward.
British media outlet, The Sun, reports that Klopp is keen on an adventurous wide man.
Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp chasing Anderlecht’s Frank Acheampong
The adaptable 23-year-old has played 12 times for Ghana since his debut in 2012. He moved to Anderlecht in 2013 for around €1m and has been a revelation in several positions for the Belgian side, playing 98 league games and scoring 11 goals over three seasons.
He can operate at left-back or on the wing and this adds strength to the rumour because he appears to be the sort of dynamic and buccaneering wing back who would pique the interest of Klopp.
Liverpool have regularly used midfielder James Milner at left back this season. He’s been dependable as ever but may not be regarded as the long-term solution. Klopp’s alternative is Alberto Moreno but still generates concern with some of his defending.
Let’s see some of Acheampong’s best moments in his young career. Liverpool fans: is he your cup of tea or would a more steady defender be a better fit in a sometimes shaky defence?
