Manchester City: Talks held for world star – report

Pretty much any problem in football could be solved by the addition of Lionel Messi and Manchester City are once more being linked with him in the latest news cycle.

British media outlet, The Sun, reports:

MANCHESTER CITY have told Barcelona: We will pay £100million to sign Lionel Messi.

SunSport understands negotiations between executives of both clubs were held at the end of last month to determine if a world record transfer is possible.

Still only 29 Messi has scored nearly as many goals in club football as he has played games through his career with 480 of the beauties in just 555 games for Barcelona. He’s won the Ballon D’Or to be recognised as the world’s best player on no less than five occasions.

And even though he has often been criticised for his form at international level, Messi has a top class record of 67 goals in 115 games for Argentina.

Regardless of TFF’s football affiliations we would simply love to see this man plying his trade in England. We believe that he is the greatest player to ever walk the earth, bar none, and the only string missing from his bow is the challenge of another top league in Europe.

Manchester City would certainly have the cash to push a deal through and Messi enjoyed his most successful period under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. With tax problems lingering for the Argentine in Spain, perhaps an escape to Manchester City and the crunching tackles of the Premier League wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Manchester City fans: any chance of signing him or his this a mere pipe dream?
