Manchester City vs Manchester United is always one of the great showdowns in the football calendar.
Even if they quality of the game isn’t quite up to scratch you can pretty much guarantee that there will be bucketloads of passion and controversy.
There is usually a ferocious tempo about games like these too and that is what makes for such a spectacle. And although both have longer term ambitions of getting into the Champions League the bragging rights here are crucial which is why both teams will want to come away with three points.
Alright Manchester United have showed real consistency in the league over the last six months it is still Manchester City who have a much more fluid looking side capable of scoring lots of goals.
Manchester City are still the best side in the league when they’re on form while Manchester United are a workmanlike team in transition.
So even if this game was being played at Old Trafford and not the Etihad Stadium we would still make Manchester City slight favourites.
They will be desperate to consolidate their position in the top four and this is the perfect opportunity to put some distance between themselves and their closest challengers for that fourth spot – namely Manchester United.
