Manchester United can have their man for £30.6m as selling club changes stance – report

Manchester United look as if their quest to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan is getting that much closer with news coming out of Germany that Borussia Dortmund may be about to relent on a deal.

The German club had been adamant that the 27-year-old midfielder would see out the last year of his contract in Germany, even though they were aware of his desire to leave the club for Manchester United.

But German news outlet Kicker (via BBC) reports that Dortmund may now be prepared to sell if the price is right:

Borussia Dortmund have changed their stance and are now saying Manchester United target Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 27, is available for £30.6m. The Armenia forward has one year remaining on his contract. (Kicker – in German)

The Armenian’s agent, Mino Raiola, has been very public in his negotiations with Dortmund in this one. He has made it very clear that his client wants to move to Manchester United citing it as the dream club of the player.

And TFF always felt that this was a deal which would eventually be hammered out due to the player’s desires. After making such a statement the player would expect a rough ride from the local fans if he did return to Dortmund this autumn and we believe that a path has now been paved for the move to go ahead.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan would be a great signing for a Manchester United side which has lacked consistent guile in its midfield since Paul Scholes retired for a second time.

Mkhitaryan can play on the wing but he would possibly be asked to provide more consistent creativity in the middle of the park than Ander Herrera has been able to manage over the last two years.
