Manchester United enter race for Belgian midfield dynamo

TFF believes that Manchester United will address four areas of their team this summer. The right back position needs to be looked at as well as a replacement for Michael Carrick in the defensive midfield.

Goals have been a problem so we think that Manchester United will probably add two more attackers to their improving squad. In terms of that midfielder Manchester United must choose carefully because they need the perfect partner to bring out the best in world transfer record signing Paul Pogba. And reports in the latest news cycle suggest that they may have found the perfect man. That would be 29-year-old Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Sky Sports reported last night:

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Belgium and Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

The energetic midfielder has been something of a late bloomer and only played 29 times for Belgium since his debut in 2009. But he has scored six goals in that time to perfectly illustrate the fact that he’s not just a box to box midfielder but an excellent goalscorer. He’ll hit a good few 30 yard howitzers every season to add to his combative play and generally excellent screening of the defence.

While TFF would sooner Manchester United go for a player who is younger and can bed into the team over the next 5 to 10 years Nainggolan would certainly be an excellent addition to the side in the medium term. He is 29 already so perhaps we could only expect him to have another two or three years at the top. But he would be a good partner for Pogba who could then push on and get further up the field to cause the problems that we all know he can to the opposition.

Manchester United fans – too old?
