Like Manchester United in general this season lots of the players have been good in fits and starts. But consistency has been a problem and even some of the best players in Europe have been struggling in this team at times.
There have been 3 or 4 players in particular who have shown that consistency when they’ve been on the park and TFF picks a winner from that shortlist for player of the season so far at Manchester United.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Even when he had a lean spell in front of goal in the late autumn this was a player who was pulling the strings for Manchester United and trying to drag them forward. What a player he is. As good a number nine as you will see in Europe. He’s great with his back to goal has a wonderful touch, great strength and athleticism and is deadly in front of goal.
15 goals in his Manchester United career so far don’t tell the whole story.
Eric Bailly
If the brilliant youngster had been fit all season he probably would’ve been a shoe-in for player of the season so far. He’s been so good for Manchester United that he looks as if he’s been playing for them for a good five years. Still only 22 years of age he’s got a wonderful career ahead.
Ander Herrera
The Spaniard has always been a favorite amongst the Manchester United fans but he’s becoming undroppable because he seems to have added grit to the guile that he’s always had in his game. Has been superb for Manchester United in the last couple of months.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON SO FAR
Michael Carrick
Quite simply he has turned Manchester United around this season. They were at sixes and sevens until Jose Mourinho finally listened to the fans and gave Carrick a starting place in the side. His introduction has coincided with Manchester United finally looking like a proper football team again. How are they ever going to do without the 35-year-old?
