Manchester United look set to complete the signing of Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly this week and that won’t be the end of the transfer business with latest tabloid reports suggesting that Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic wants to join the club.
The Sun reports:
Nemanja Matic tells Chelsea he wants to join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United after holding talks with Antonio Conte.
Matic’s fall from grace at Chelsea was scarcely credible after he appeared in The Premier League team of the season in his first full campaign at the club and was widely regarded as a vital cog in the machine that won the title the season before last.
But last campaign he was regularly overlooked by John Obi Mikel and his future is uncertain right now.
Manchester United are clearly in need of a combative and big presence in the midfield and TFF could easily imagine Matic becoming another early Mourinho signing.
He doesn’t always have the greatest technique but he is mobile for such a big man and scores the odd wonder goal.
Matic has played 108 times for Chelsea over three seasons and scored five goals in that period. He made his debut for Serbia in 2008 and has gone on the make 28 appearances and score 1 goal.
Manchester United have a lot of decisions to make in the midfield with the futures of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera yet to be completely clarified.
Here are some of Matic’s best moments. Manchester United supporters – good enough to be part of the next great United team?
