‘Still a dream’: Prolific forward talks about Real Madrid move

Real Madrid will have to think about replacing Karim Benzema in the not too distant future.

The Frenchman has confounded the odds to stay as the main striker at the club for seven years.

But, at 29, he’s not quite as electrifying as he once was and he’s scored a relatively modest twelve goals so far this season. Decent statistics but not remarkable.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on the other hand, is in his absolute pomp. At 27, the 6ft 2in striker looks as if he is still improving and has been one of the most prolific, marksmen in Europe for the last couple of years. He’s scored 20 goals in just 22 games this season to follow up his tally of 39 in 49 last year.

He’s a beast of a player one of the few who TFF believes could genuinely improve that Real Madrid front line. He’s been regularly linked with a move to El Bernabeu and he was quoted this week as saying:

“I feel very good here because of the magnificent fans [at Dortmund]. It is a big club. However, I am asking myself this question, If I want to take the next step, should I not leave?” he told Radio RMC.

“Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise. I have an important choice to make. Many people would like to see me in England.

The striker has scored goals wherever he’s been. 23 in 55 games for a very modest Gabon side at international level. 41 in 96 games for St. Etienne and 100 in just 165 games overall for Dortmund in the three and a half seasons since he signed for the club.

TFF thinks he sounds as if he is touting himself for a move and would be surprised if he starts next season at Dortmund.

If his forms continues Real Madrid could well be his next destination.
