Chelsea superstar Thibaut Courtois is already planning his move to Real Madrid according to reports in the British press.
British media outlet, The Sun, reckons:
Real Madrid target Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to be club’s new No 1 instead of David De Gea
The Belgian stopper has already begun planning for his move back to Spain
Manchester United superstar David de Gea was so close to joining Los Blancos in the summer but the deal was scuppered at the last due to administrative errors. While rumours of a move have persisted, Real Madrid may have finally switched targets to another top stopper.
Courtois may not be quite as elegant or majestic as De Gea but he is every bit as good a shot stopper. He has unbelievable reflexes, his height gives him a great advantage and he is technically excellent with good distribution by hand or foot.
Still only 24, the 6ft 6.5in international has played 45 times for Belgium since his debut in 2011.
He has been a superb addition for Chelsea. Loaned out to Atletico for three years after signing for The Blues in 2011 he returned to Stamford Bridge to succeed Petr Cech in 2014 and has played 87 times over two and a half seasons.
Chelsea will of course be desperate to hold on to the player but will reflect on the fact that keeping an unhappy player at the club could be counter productive.
Furthermore, Chelsea could reasonably expect to receive a world record fee for a goalkeeper from Real Madrid based on the quality and profile of the young man.
Real Madrid fans: as good as De Gea?
