Rumour: Manchester United keen on another Monaco striker

He may have started slowly this term but Anthony Martial most certainly has a place in the hearts of most Manchester United fans after a stunning debut season.

The Frenchman was signed for Monaco at the beginning of last term and racked up 17 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League in his first full campaign. Furthermore, his general play quickens the pulses like few other players in England.

Reports this week suggest that Manchester United may have their eyes on another player from the same club. HITC writes:

Several elite Premier League clubs are ready to make an early move for Monaco starlet Kylian Mbappe, HITC Sport understands.

Manchester United, who beat Arsenal to Martial, along with Manchester City have both dispatched scouts to watch the player in recent weeks.

The Monaco-born striker has made a frightening start to his international career with seven goals in 10 games for the France U21s.

He broke through into the first team at Monaco last season, making 14 appearances and scoring once. This year he’s already played 11 times for the first XI and hit three goals.

He has amazing pace and looks to possess the sort of ball control which could make him into a top player in years to come.

Of course his progress could well be stunted if he moves to an elite club too early and doesn’t get enough game time. But perhaps this talent is too good for the French league already.

Manchester United have some depth up top but with their main striker, Zlatan, already 35 years of age they will look to invest further in that area of the squad over the next couple of windows.

Let’s have a look at some of the best moments of his Young career. Manchester United fans – a good investment?
