Tottenham: Exceedingly interesting transfer link

Tottenham returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over Hull but wins of this margin have been few and far between this season.

More firepower and creativity is required at the business end which makes the latest transfer rumour exceedingly interesting.

The London Evening Standard, who have an ear close to the ground with all things Tottenham, say that Spurs are keen:

Tottenham poised to move for Everton’s £35m man Ross Barkley as Mauricio Pochettino looks to get best out of Harry Kane

Tottenham already possess some excellent creative talent behind their number nine with the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli. But Barkley could potentially offer something different.

Still only 23, the 6ft 2in attacking midfielder hasn’t always been guaranteed a place under Ronald Koeman and consistency has always been an issue for this inordinately talented playmaker.

He’s made 15 appearances this season and scored three goals. In total, Barkley has hit 24 goals in 155 games for Everton but would the Toffees be tempted by a big money offer?

It’s a possibility. But TFF would never even consider offloading such a talent. At 23, he’s a bulldozer with great feet and a long career ahead of him.

If Barkley still isn’t performing to a high standard on a consistent basis by his mid-twenties then it might be time to reassess. But, as things stand, Everton would be mad to countenance a sale to Tottenham or anywhere else. And we don’t think that they will.

Here are some of his best moments for the Goodison outfit. Tottenham fans: would Barkley improve your team or just your squad?
