Tottenham linked with 21 cap international

With defensive injuries threatening to derail the brilliant form of Tottenham there may be substance to the latest rumours which suggest that the club could invest in a centre back in January.

British media outlet, The London Evening Standard, reports that a Tottenham are interested in a veteran from Italy.

Tottenham are looking at Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.

The report states that the agent of the player has been in England to discuss the future of the player with the likes of Hull and West Ham, who are also reportedly interested.

The 28-year-old Italian international has been in and out of the national squad since his debut in 2010 but has a decent 21 caps to is name.

At club level he has been something of a journeyman and a real steady Eddie of a player down the years.

He has always plied his trade in Italy and his most substantial spell was in Serie A at Inter from 2011 to 2016 where he played 166 games and scored nine goals in a period marked by highs and lows at the club.

Overall this is a player wouldn’t let anyone down in the Premier League. The 6ft 5in centre back may not be the quickest off the mark but he jus a canny Italian defender who could provide superb cover for Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. The Belgian pair are arguably the strongest duo in the league but both are currently injured and may not be back for more than a month.

Tottenham fans: would he be an excellent addition to the squad or are you happy enough with Kevin Wimmer and Eric Dier as understudy centre backs?
