Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is generally known for his prudence in the market and the fact that he is being persistently linked with a move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha would suggest that he believes the player is the real deal and one who could seriously improve Tottenham.
A bid has once more been mooted in the latest news cycle.
British media outlet, The Sun, reports:
Spurs renew their attempts to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha with £25m bid lined up
At 24 there is still much room for improvement and he has a long career ahead of him. He’s quick, athletic and indefatigable.
But when talking about these sorts of sums of money is Zaha a player with enough end product?
He looks to TFF like a classic England winger. He’s got pace to burn but doesn’t always marry his natural ability with a head for the right pass. His decision making can be awry and he plays with his head down a lot.
For £25m TFF would certainly be looking at other options. But what Tottenham would be getting is a player with a lot of Premier League experience, a hard worker and someone who is prepared to track back.
Zaha has been capped twice by England and scored 12 goals in 96 games for Crystal Palace since his move back from a failed spell at Manchester United.
Whether has the consistent brilliance or football brain to change big games on a regular basis remains to be seen.
Tottenham fans: a top player in the making or another to go into the slightly underwhelming category of recent purchase made by the club?
