Report – Arsenal could now move to sign £45million playmaker

Unai Emery Arsenal

Arsenal did not reinforce their attack in the summer transfer window and now that Danny Welbeck is out with a long term injury, the north Londoners must splash the cash to strengthen the department.

Earlier this month, Telefoot covered a report and claimed that the Gunners would be willing to splash the cash to sign Nicolas Pepe from French side Lille in the winter transfer window.

More recently, The Sun have exclusively revealed that Welbeck is out with a broken ankle and therefore, Unai Emery could step up his pursuit of signing the Ivorian international, who is rated at around £45million.

The British source have mentioned that the Arsenal boss was not looking to purchase any new players until next summer but he could be forced to move to sign Pepe due to Welbeck’s injury.

The former Man United man has mostly played in the wide positions for Arsenal this season. Pepe is a versatile attacker, who can be deployed at either flank and will largely improve the quality and depth of the north Londoners.

The 23-year-old African winger is one of the most in form players in the world at the moment and as per the provided Telefoot link, even the likes of Bayern, Dortmund and Barcelona are interested in luring him.

In the current campaign, he has so far netted 8 goals and provided 7 assists in just 13 league appearances.
