Arsenal interested in signing £35.5million midfielder – Ramsey’s replacement?

Arsenal are 5th in the table after 12 Premier League fixtures and they really need to reinforce the team in the winter transfer window.

It must be remembered that Welsh international Aaron Ramsey will be out of contract next summer and it will not come as as any surprise if he leaves the Emirates in January.

If that happens then the north Londoners will need to sign a quality replacement. if reports in the media are anything to go by then the Gunners are looking to sign a midfielder, who has what it takes to replace Ramsey.

According to Portuguese source Record, Arsenal are interested in signing Mexican international and Porto star Hector Herrera.

Like Ramsey, Herrera is also a versatile center midfielder, who can effectively play in the attacking midfield role.

The 28-year-old is an experienced star, who has already played 70 games for the national side. In the current campaign, so far, he has scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 17 appearances for the Primeira Liga club.

Herrera’s current contract has a release clause (Goal.com) of 40 million euros (£35.5million) but it will expire next summer, so, he could be lured for cheap in the winter window.
