Griezmann alternative: Manchester United to step up interest in 25-year-old wizard

With Manchester United seemingly no longer interested in signing French forward Antoine Griezmann they’ve reportedly turned their interest to another playmaker who can sit in behind the striker.

British media outlet, the Daily Mail, reports:

United want a big-name signing this summer and after cooling their interest in Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, Jose Mourinho is set to step up his interest in Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has played for five clubs in his professional career. And it’s been an astronomical rise until the point that he got to Real Madrid. There his career stalled somewhat even though he’s been a decent member of the squad during his four years in Madrid.

Having been left out of the Champions League final – he wasn’t even named on the substitutes bench – the speculation is now rife that he will make a move in the summer.

TFF would be more surprised if he stayed at Real Madrid at this point. It seems like his career has come to a dead end there.

But he’s scored goals whereever he has played throughout his career.

He started at Envigado FC where scored nine goals in just 30 games before being snapped up by big boys Banfield.

Forty nine games and ten goals later Rodriguez was ready for another move – this time to Porto where he enjoyed three brilliant seasons scoring 32 goals in 107 games for the club.

He scored 10 goals in 38 games for Monaco before he was snapped up by Real Madrid in 2014 after a superb World Cup.

TFF believes that he is potentially an even better player than Antoine Griezmann but he doesn’t have the consistency of the Frenchman at this point in his career.

But, at just 25, he’s got seven years left at the top and we think he would be an amazing player for Manchester United.
