Massive boost for Spurs in pursuit of £30million star

Manchester United signed Eric Bailly in 2016 from Villareal and in his first season with the club, he was arguably the best center half for the Red Devils under Mourinho.

However, the Ivorian international was mainly on the treatment table last season and in the current campaign, he has mostly warmed the bench.

According to The Telegraph, Jose Mourinho is ready to sell the likes of Bailly and Rojo in order to sign a new center back to reinforce his defense in the January transfer window.

This transfer decision made by the Old Trafford club is a massive boost for Tottenham Hotspur, who have been interested in signing Bailly for quite some time.

Last month, The Daily Star exclusively reported that Pochettino is keen to sign the 24-year-old African defender, for whom United will want to recoup the £30million fee they paid to lure him.

As per The Telegraph, Alderweireld, whose current contract with Spurs will expire next summer, is linked with the Red Devils and if the Belgian international does end up leaving, then Pochettino must replace him with a quality center half.

Mourinho has been ruthless and punished Bailly for his poor displays against Brighton (in August) and Newcastle (Last month). The former La Liga man has has only started three league games this season.
