Liverpool did not deserve three points vs Everton

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool defeated Everton in the most bizarre fashion. Divock Origi, the forgotten man, scored the winning goal in the final seconds of injury time to get the victory for the Merseysiders

However, the Reds did not deserve to win three points because they were quite average on the day, mainly in the attacking third.

At the back, Alisson made some top saves and the defenders were brilliant but up front, Firmino, Mane, Salah and Shaqiri were poor in front of the goal.

In the first half, Mane provided a super chip pass for Salah but the Egyptian international failed to control the ball. The former Roma star then returned the favor by providing a wonder through ball to Mane, but the Senegalese star blasted the ball over the bar.

The best chance of the first half fell to Xherdan Shaqiri. Salah found the Swiss star with a quality through ball but the ex Bayern Munich forward hit his shot straight to Pickford.

Firmino can open gaps while playing in the No.10 role but his touch inside the box has let the team down on many occasions this season and once again, the Brazilian could not impress.

In the second half, he did control and pass the ball in the path of Mane, but the African star missed the one vs one chance to open the scoring for the Anfield club.

Nevertheless, Liverpool were very lucky that right at the end, Pickford made a horrific error of judgement to gift them the goal. Winning ugly has helped Klopp’s men in the current season but luck does not help in every game. Liverpool have so far conceded the fewest number of goals in the Premier League this season but their attackers need to step up the game if the team is to finally win the title.
