Liverpool’s team news vs Burnley – Key duo could be out

Liverpool Crest

Last night, Manchester City defeated Watford away from home to extend their lead to five points on top of the table and Liverpool will look to reduce the deficit again by beating Burnley tonight.

The Merseysiders needed an injury time goal to beat rivals and neighbors Everton at Anfield on Sunday. They should be considered firm favorites to earn all three points vs the Clarets, who are 19th in the table with just 9 points after 14 games.

As per the information provided by The Reds’ official websitem6, the club will have to assess the fitness of star playmaker Sadio Mane and left back Andy Robertson for tonight’s clash.

In my opinion, Klopp should look to rest the above mentioned duo keeping in mind that his team has to feature against Bournemouth on Saturday and will also face Napoli next week in the all important Champions League fixture (Paisley Gates).

If the German boss does opt to bench Mane and Robertson then I think Moreno could get the nod to start in the left back position and Liverpool could play with Firmino, Salah and Shaqiri in the attack. So far, Moreno has only started one game in the Premier League this season (vs Cardiff City).

Skipper Jordan Henderson was sent off vs Watford and was suspended against Everton. He is available again but in my view, the England international should not start. The former Sunderland man is a hard worker but he is a specialist at absolute nothing.

Liverpool do have a specialist defensive midfielder in the form of Fabinho and the Brazilian should start ahead of Henderson tonight.

Predicted Liverpool XI vs Burnley: Alisson| Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Moreno| Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita| Shaqiri, Firmino, Salah
