TFF has to say that we think this story could run on for quite a while before Manchester United fans end up once more disappointed with the saga.
It is of course Cristiano Ronaldo to United. This story has been rife since the allegations of tax fraud were presented to the superstar. Reports in England now suggest that the player is interested in returning to the club.
British media outlet, Sky Sports, reports:
Cristiano Ronaldo is interested in the possibility of returning to Manchester United this summer, Sky sources understand.
There may be truth in this story. But if you consider Ronaldo’s position right now it would make sense for him and his entourage to put out stories that he wants to leave Real Madrid. If the authorities are aware that he is serious about leaving their country – a fanatical football nation – they may soften their stance on his tax allegations.
We think that Ronaldo will ultimately stay in Spain beyond this summer and that this is where he wants to be playing his football for the rest of his career.
That doesn’t mean it’s completely out of the question that he will join Manchester United. If the authorities press ahead with these charges then it might be too much for the ego of Ronaldo to bear.
And what return it would be as he has always been adored by the United faithful. Manchester United would immediately become favourites for the league and shoe-in for the latter stages of the Champions League. It would be a fantastic ride but one which we still can’t see happening.
