This story is gathering pace and it appears that Manchester United is now the most likely destination for the 25-year-old superstar James Rodriguez.
That is the opinion of various sources and the most recent one to suggest it is Spanish media outlet AS.
They wrote that the player applauded all four corners of the ground in his most recent appearance for Real Madrid before being substituted on the hour in what could well be his final game for the club.
They say:
If the Colombia international leaves Madrid – and Manchester United have emerged as his most likely destination – it will bring to an end a dream he had harboured for many years.
Rodriguez has been excellent this season and scored 11 goals in 31 appearances. He’s had a rocky ride at the club and has rarely been first choice in the strongest 11 over the last couple of years.
But he would be an excellent addition to the Manchester United squad which needs a lot more quality in the final third having built a solid foundation in defence and midfield. While he wouldn’t be the 30 goal a season replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic he would help to share the goals around the team and this has been one of the biggest problems for Manchester United this season.
Rodriguez moved to Real Madrid for £63 million pounds in 2014 after a superb World Cup in Brazil where he came to the attention of the footballing world. Now seems like the perfect time for a move after his career has stalled to a degree. His agent Jorge Mendes is also representing Mourinho so communication on such a transfer shouldn’t be a problem. Manchester United fans – worth the money?
