Signed for around £25m at the start of the 2015/16 season Memphis began his United career with some wonderful performances.

But he is very much a ‘confidence’ player and the glare of the Old Trafford spotlight appears to have overwhelmed him.

He is the ultimate mercurial talent and if Tottenham could get the best out of him we could easily be looking at one of the top players in the world in a few years.

But he has gone missing far too often at Manchester United and the feeling around the club is that his time is up.

Tottenham have several adaptable forwards but could use some more conventional width in their squad.

Memphis has power, pace and unbelievable acceleration. He has played 27 times for The Netherlands since his debut in 2013 and scored 5 goals. At club level he has made 52 appearances for United and scored 7 times.

Let’s see some of his highlights. Tottenham fans: a great coup or a waste of money?
