World Player of The Year wants to join Manchester United says top coach

Italian coach says Ronaldo wants Manchester United move

All eyes are on Gareth Bale right now as Manchester United fans await the Welsh wizard’s next move.

But in news that will surely make the back pages of the tabloids in the morning, ex-England coach Fabio Capello has stated that Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo wants a return to Old Trafford.

The Italian isn’t sure when that will happen but, with Ronaldo making such unsettling statements in the immediate aftermath of the Champions League Final in Kiev last Saturday, a move could happen sooner rather than later.

United would surely be on the shortlist of desired clubs for CR7 if he did decide to move on – he was revered in his first stint at the club between 2003-2009 – and they could probably just about afford him too.

And Capello has doused the fire with high octane fluid by stating, according to Sky Italia:

“Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Real Madrid? Cristiano wants to return to Manchester United alongside Mourinho,”

“I think he will eventually leave Madrid to go back to England. When? This I don’t know.”

It’s a huge statement from a man with his fingers on the pulse and with nothing to gain by making this assertion. He hardly needs the publicity and he would not be putting himself into a great position if he was interested in taking over from Zinedine Zidane as head coach of Real Madrid once more.

Of course, Cristiano – who currently holds the accolade of FIFA World Player of The Year – has seemed displeased with his lot many times before and then made amends with his club.

But there remains a feeling that Ronaldo and Manchester United could be a love story that is yet to see another chapter.
