Liverpool could only sign Xherdan Shaqiri to strengthen their attack in the summer transfer window and they have not replaced star playmaker Coutinho as yet.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds are prepared to sign a top quality attacker in the form of Ousmane Dembele in the January transfer window.

According to an exclusive report covered by The Sun, Jurgen Klopp is ‘ready’ to break Liverpool’s transfer record by splashing a fee of £85million to hire the services of the Barcelona star.

The 21-year-old French international has only managed to start 7 times in the league this season because Valverde has mainly preferred the likes of Coutinho, Messi and Suarez in his attack.

Moreover, the World Cup winning star was dropped from the last weekend’s game against Real Betis, who ended up beating the Catalan giants at the Nou Camp.

Overall, in 11 starts (all competitions) this season, the former Borussia Dortmund player has directly contributed in 8 goals (6 goals and 2 assists).

Dembele is a versatile talent, who can play anywhere in the attacking third. He has raw pace and top dribbling ability to maneuver the ball with both feet. He has got what it takes to be a huge hit in the Premier League and as per The Sun, Klopp wants to lure him to challenge Man City for the title.

Dembele’s current contract with the La Liga champions will expire in 2022 and he earns (Spiegel.de) around €12m-a-year (£200,500-a-week).
