Report – Liverpool made an offer to sign £88million star in summer

Alisson Liverpool

Last night, Liverpool ripped Red Star Belgrade apart to move to the top of their group in the Champions League. The Reds were brilliant in the attack and once again solid at the back.

The Merseysiders improved their back line by signing Dutch international Virgil van Dijk in the winter transfer window and solved their goal-keeping dilemma by capturing Alisson from Roma in the summer transfer window.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds move for Atletico Madrid shot stopper Jan Oblak before splashing the cash to get Alisson.

According to Ekipa, Liverpool made an offer to sign the La Liga star in summer but he opted to reject the chance to move to Anfield.

The Slovenian outlet have stated that Oblak is upset with the fact that after a stellar campaign, the Rojiblancos opted to renew deals with other players and ignored him.

Therefore, he has no plans of extending his current contract which will expire in 2021 and has a release clause of 100 million euros (£88million). It is further mentioned that PSG are interested in signing him.

Oblak is one of the best goal keepers in the world but the Reds would not mind losing out on signing him because Alisson has been top class under Klopp. The Brazilian international has only conceded 3 goals in 9 PL outings so far and kept 6 clean sheets.
